The Covid Huddle

Huddling together
under patio umbrellas
cooling their hot hands
around cold brews.

Deep-throated laughter
and cheerful conversations spew
from hot-pink lipstick
and untrimmed beards.

Gathered close and carefree
nodding agreeably
like bobble-heads on dashboards
no care that something deadly lurks
in every breath.

I think I’ll get take-out!

I wrote this poem in 2020, before the second round of restrictions, and some people still ignored the dangers. ~ Lynne
