A fantasy novella about Rite of Passage
First in The Benevolents series of novellas
This short read is suitable as a standalone for children aged 9–12. It’s also the introduction to the series I’ll be publishing later.
A Nord farmer’s son is embarking on his Rite of Passage alone in a place he’s never been before and holds many dangers. As he battles forces on his journey through the treacherous passage, he becomes aware of a different kind of evil — an evil that threatens not only his own safety but also the safety of his town. Is he ready for the challenge?
The Song of The Benevolents
Good people come, hear of the King.
Rejoice with us, break bread and sing.
Dance the merrier free from fear.
For peaceful ones find solace here.
Our town is hidden in the veil,
The King’s legacy to prevail.
His great love is bequest on all
Who seek his grace in Hallowed Hall.
But woe to those who would do ill
For the King is just to do his will.
Hark evil ones with vile intents
The words of The Benevolents.
