We can't change what happened, but we can forgive and enjoy our lives now and in the future free from the heartache.

I focused on the people in my life who bring me joy now and let the past stay there--in the past--until my dad was willing to ask for reconciliation. For many years, he denied he'd done anything wrong.

The one who harms another needs to recognize their wrongful part and be remorseful before a reconciliation is possible. But forgiveness is our own willingness not to continue letting them have control of our minds and our joy.

I had to do this daily until it became a truth in my heart. I had forgiven him and I could let it all go and live my life without his voice in my head.

For me, the greatest help I could have was from my heavenly Father. I sought Christian counselling too. I hope you have someone to talk to about it, Julie.

God Bless,

Lynne
